Broody hens.

I now have four chicken hens and one guinea hen in a mood disposed to sit on eggs.  One nest holds a guinea and chicken hen, mutually sharing in the heating and turning of an egg cluster, composed of guinea and multi-breed chicken eggs.  I have no idea how many they're sitting on.  Another nest, shared by two Cuckoo Maran hens, has nothing underneath them.  They're perfectly content to just sit and cluck to an imaginary brood they believe is developing in the depths of their down.  Finally, Beauty's Baby (white banty hen), suddenly, this week, decided that she too, needs a clutch of her own. Not to forget the missing-in-action turkey hen who periodically shows up for bite to eat ....
