Today is supposed to be the longest day of the year.  At 12:16 p.m., Summer, 2011, began.  There were scattered rain showers throughout the day.  I mowed the "inside-of-the-fence" yard and Ada did some raking grass piles and dumping the shavings into the horses, goats and sheep.  Because the pastures just aren't as well established as I like them, I have to supplement feed - so everyone gets their daily grain/pellet ration, as well as quality alfalfa/grass hay.  My sister, Judy, and her husband, Rudy, will be visiting in a couple of weeks and part of the planned "activities" will be dividing the larger pasture/paddock area into three.  The purpose of this will be to rotate grazing areas, divide when someone in a herd or flock and needs some "time out" time, and to just in-general, be able to separate when necessary.  It will be a work-packed weekend, but I'll make sure they're well-fed and happy.  :)  I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the summer holiday season!
