Hired Help.

There's a not-too-cold and not-too-heavy rain happening at the moment. Snow was supposed to be a part of it, and, luckily, is not. Although, in looking at the KCCI doppler and western Nebraska ... if it got any colder, snow could happen. Tomorrow, a trip is planned for North Dakota - which is why I'm watching the doppler so closely.  We're going to visit my mother, "grandma" to everyone else, and to get hay. Yes, hay grows in Iowa, too, but the quality this year was a major disappointment...  It just so happens that a second cousin from "The North Country" has great alfalfa hay he can sell me, and my neighbor has a trailer I can use ... so, the plan developed and the anticipated departure date is near.  Trips aren't always easy to plan when a farm is involved - especially a farm with animals. Which is why we are so super lucky to have the best hired help out there - our neighbor, Lydia, who is an amazing person. As often as the chores routine changes, she can handle it all! I've never been concerned about the animals or the farm when we're away, because we have Lydia. If a goat gets out, Lydia doesn't panic or call, she catches the goat and puts it back inside. If there's a hole in the fence where the goat got out, she fixes it. If an emergency arises - she deals with it, then fills me in later.  I love that. Its wonderful being able to rest at ease when I'm away. Thank you to Lydia, for being the best Hired Help out there.
