The North Wind Doth Blow

A day at home. Lately, that's been a rarity. I've actually been working on my to-do list.  The beehives are covered with 30-R solid insulation, their door-minimizers are in place, and everything is duct-taped together. Tucked between the apple trees out back, I'm feeling confident they can survive the winter.  Its windy out there today.  The northwest chill makes my hands cold, even with work gloves on. I am not looking forward to winter. I'm sure the livestock aren't either.  Which is why the next thing on today's to-do list is covering drafty areas in the barn, with plywood sheets. As much as I love my old hip-roof barn, it can get cold. Where once their were metal strips covering gaps between the boards, there are ... well, gaps. Approximately 1/2 inch between each board. I'm not sure what the purpose of such a construction design was, but it appears to have been common. The square, jig-saw, drill, screws, tape-measure and hammer are already in the barn. That project should fill my afternoon. The forecast is for 50's and sunny all weekend. I'm hoping its true, then I can keep checking things off the list, and finally put it away until next year.
